Or alternatively get us to do it.

1

Get a domain name

A domain name is essential for any modern business

Registering a domain name is easy and there are lots of places where you can register yours now. We recommend using a separate domain name and hosting option. For domain names have a look at GoDaddy. They always have special deals running and there are plenty of promo codes around the web.

If you already have a domain name, chances are you will have hosting with it. If that is the case skip to installing a content management system.

Get some web hosting

All websites need their space on the internet

In order to have a site on the net you need web hosting. This is a folder on the internet where you store all your files. As with domains there are many places where you can buy space. We recommend Host Gator and have been using them for years. They provide cheap reliable hosting which has never let us down.

There are many different cms platforms to choose from. Each with their own good and bad points. A quick google for "cms systems" will give you lots of results to look through. We specialise in and recommend wordpress. All the popular ones have large communities of people and known problems are easily solved and people are willing to help.

5 steps to making your own website

Every site needs a domain name. If you have had a domain name for a number of years, this puts you in a very good position so utilise this advantage!

Hosting is where the files for your website are stored online. There are many different hosting options available. You can get free ones with ads, or spend £100s a month on dedicated servers. Most often the cheapest paid package is right for small businesses.

A content management system (cms) allows you to keep the site up to date using a browser. Gone are the days of having to pay for text amends or updating photo galleries. You can do it all yourself!

Nearly every cms comes with a default theme. These are readily available and are a good basis for adapting it to suit your needs. Themes are like the foundations that you build upon.

Last step is to populate your new site with all your words and images. This can often be the most time consuming part to get right.

What our clients have to say

“We came to influxed with a template we made about 5 years ago. They redesigned using exactly the same content but layed out in a much more appealing manner. Turnaround was one week. Faultless 10/10.”
